Council of Europe


Lord Foulkes is one of the representatives of the UK Parliament on the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). The Assembly brings together 324 men and women from the parliaments of the Council of Europe’s 47 member states – its mission is to uphold the shared values of human rights, democracy and the rule of law that are the “common heritage” of the peoples of Europe.

He is currently a member of the Social Affairs Committee and is acting as their Rapporteur on a Report on “A Guarantee of the Rights of Older People in Europe”. He also sits on the Sub Committee on the Europe Prize.
