Peers are also Members of Parliament and we scrutinise every piece of legislation – often in more detail than the Commons. Over the last year, I have realised it can be easier for backbench Peers to get changes in legislation than backbenchers in the Commons.
Although we are not elected, there is no reason why we should not, and every reason why we should, be accountable.
